Purchasing a new house is like nothing else, it’s not like buying a car or a television, there are so many factors that have the potential to go wrong and all you can do is wait. Mortgage arrangements, valuations, surveys, being part of a chain of buyers and dealing with solicitors can all be stressful. We like to be in control and micro manage our lives so handing over this kind of thing to others while you essentially live out of boxes can be very difficult.
The best approach is to have continued regular contact with all involved parties and try not to be too fixed about your move date. Whatever you do don’t book holidays during likely move periods. Give yourself plenty of time either side of your ideal move date.
Everyone in your chain will have different agendas some in a rush others not so, this can make the whole process very frustrating. Add to this the natural apprehension of moving to a new area stress goes “through the roof”
